Comparisons...

We have only lived here in Hat Yai, Thailand for less than a week. We lived in Yangon for a year, but already there are similarities and comparisons to make.

It's much cleaner than Yangon. There are trash cans outside the shops. There's an infrastructure that helps keep the streets clean. Of course there are plenty of area of trash here, but still cleaner than Yangon.

Much quieter. Here we hear a few loud cars revving up, an occasional loud speaker in the distance.

The fruits and vegetables here are of much better quality. Yangon's fruits and veggies always seemed flavorless.

Of course there are still bugs and the heat. It's South East Asia after all.

Much better selection of food, many more western options.

When we lived in Yangon I never went out on our terraces, we had 2. It was so dirty and loud and I was immediately bombarded with all kinds of bugs. I'd open the door for 2 minutes and then there would be 5 new bugs in the apartment.

Here it feels much more pleasant out side on our terrace. I've been going out and hanging laundry, it's quite nice out there.

There is so much more to discover here. I am proceeding slowly and cautiously.
