Breath of fresh air, literally.

It was no secret we were not happy in Myanmar.

We are now finally out! After the worst flight experience on Norwegian Air Shuttle, seriously don't ever fly this airline. We had huge delays, zero help catching and ultimately missing our connection, an unplanned overnight stay in Copenhagen, and lost baggage, but now we are in beautiful Latvia just in time for Ligo, aka Midsummer, celebration.

The air is so fresh, the trees and grass so green, and the food is so good. No one wants to pet my son, no one is spitting betel nut at my feet, there is not the stench of sewage penetrating my nostrils.

This weekend is the biggest celebration of the year, Ligo, Midsummer, Jani, it's the longest day of the year. It's celebrated by going to the country side, eating and drinking with friends, and a huge fire.

I learned a lot of lessons while in Myanmar. Most of all I learned that no amount of research can prepare you for moving to a different country. Travel blogs and YouTube videos all seem to be done by travelers staying a week or two and have no real concept of what it's like to live there, only visit. All of them seem to be positive, as if no one has ever had a negative experience.

I'm not saying you should never travel to Myanmar, you should. The people are friendly and there is lots of history and interesting things to see. Your money goes a long way there.

What I'm saying is, living there is not for everyone.
