COVID-19

We are in the middle of the Corona virus outbreak, COVID-19. Here in Southern Thailand there seems to be minimal threat, but all around us there are more and more cases. Bangkok has had some, but South Korea and Japan are getting hit hard and of course China.

I suspect there are many more cases in rural areas without testing . People get what they assume is a common cold, recover and never get recorded.

We were in the middle of a week long break this February when our school and Thai officials implemented guidelines to deal with COVID-19.

If any of the teachers or students traveled to China, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Cambodia, or Vietnam they may not attend school for 15 days and should self quarantine themselves. It hit the school especially hard because half the school was away at one of these places when the notice went out.

We were tucked safely in our home dealing with a stomach bug and an out of town guest.

But all this has me worried. I have particularly poor lungs. I know the mortality rate of is only 2% but I'm scared that my family or I may become part of that 2%. I mean, really scared.

Today I penned a letter to my son in case I die. How terrifying is that?!?!?!

Our plan is to stay cautious. Wash hands all the time! Of course, not travel to any of these places. If it gets worse..... I don't know what we will do. Our home is here now. We will cross that bridge when we get there. Stay safe everyone!
