I haven't written a blog post in a while. We spent 6 weeks in lovely Latvia. It's my favorite place. We were never bored. There was something to do every day, friends to see, never a dull moment. We said goodbye to the Baltics a few days ago. 4 flights, Riga to Helsinki, Helsinki to Doha, Doha to BKK, BKK to Hat Yai and jet lag we finally arrived in Hat Yai, Thailand. We were greeted by the owner of the school my husband will be working at. He showed us around the city.
My first impressions are: smaller city, cleaner city. quiet but a fun tourist vibe at night. We found a townhouse. I like it, not love it, but I'm working on making to feel like a home. Our landlady is very nice and installed a new refrigerator, washing machine, 3 new toilets, and gas cook top.
The first time we moved across the world, it was kind of fun buying all new things for the home, plates, cookware, silverware, bedding, mops, brooms, cleaning supplies, food, sauces, spices..... The third time it really feels like hard work. I am not willing to just buy the cheapest thing I can find at first sight, things I don't really like, but need. This time I'm trying to be more selective and buy things I really like and enjoy. It's silly to say I enjoy a plate, or a tupperware, but I do.
So far we have purchased only what we need, bedding, bowls for cereal, cereal and milk, and toilet paper. We visited the Tescos in town. What an amazing store! It has almost everything I've missed since moving abroad. Tomorrow we need to stock the kitchen, and find some kind of shelving.
So far I'm liking it here, but with trepidation. I want to like it here, but I'm worried I won't. I'm worried that something will go wrong. I don't want to move again. I'm so tired of moving.
